JUNE 2010 QN 6 & 8E... for mysterious person (part 2)

Carbon dioxide becoming carb is PHOTOSYNTHESIS.. so an explanation of that process is necessary...

MARK SCHEME

ANSWER
During photosynthesis, carbon dioxide enters the leaf by diffusion through the stomata. Carbon dioxide is converted to glucose by reaction with water, in the presence of light and chloroplast (7 marks)
(actually we usually write chlorophyll but chloroplast is more accurate as the chloroplast contain ENZYMES and CHLOROPHYLL)

The glucose made during photosynthesis is converted to sucrose (plant sugar) and also starch for storage. How did the sugar go from leaf to root? Phloem!

MARK SCHEME

ANSWER
Glucose is converted to sucrose and carried in the phloem, from the leaves  to the roots (3 marks)

Qn 8E was a question in a previous test no? Pls check first and get back to me.... I can explain it again if you want! Leave a comment!
